Overview

Located on Surawong Road in the heart of Bangkok's Bang Rak district, Kizahashi stands out as a charming okonomiyaki restaurant that brings a slice of authentic Japanese comfort food to Thailand. Specializing in okonomiyaki—a savory Japanese pancake rich with various ingredients—this spot offers not only a signature dish but also an array of traditional Japanese plates such as fresh sashimi, yakisoba, and unique appetizers like lemongrass-fried delicacies and shrimp cream croquettes.

The restaurant occupies a vintage-style building with a clean, three-floor interior that perfectly balances nostalgic atmosphere and modern comfort. This setting makes Kizahashi an inviting escape for both casual diners and those seeking a more intimate, home-style Japanese experience. Given the limited seating, making a reservation is highly recommended to ensure a smooth visit.

What truly defines the Kizahashi experience is the focus on craftsmanship visible in dishes like the okonomiyaki "in the making," a spectacle that showcases the care and technique poured into every meal. Beyond their pancake specialty, guests praise the freshness of sashimi platters and the well-prepared yakitori, particularly chicken skin skewers that deliver crispness and flavor. The beer selection complements the food well, including distinctive options like Muscat Beer that offer a pleasant departure from standard drinks.

While some reviews note smaller portions of okonomiyaki and occasional limited seafood availability, the attentive service and quality preparation make up for these minor points. Parking may require a short walk from nearby buildings, but complimentary parking is available at Wall Street Tower with a validation, adding convenience for those driving in.

Kizahashi appeals primarily to diners who appreciate traditional Japanese cuisine prepared with authenticity and served in a cozy, spirited environment. Whether you're a local looking for genuine flavors or a visitor eager to explore Japan’s culinary staples beyond sushi, Kizahashi offers a well-rounded, satisfying experience that celebrates the multifaceted charm of Japanese home-style cooking.

On my second visit, they offered traditional Japanese cuisine with a wide array of dishes. They specialize in okonomiyaki, a savory Japanese pancake, which I did not try this time, but I certainly plan to. The building has a vintage appearance, yet the interior is clean and spans three floors. It is advisable to make a reservation.

Overall a great experience. The fried aji was crispy and perfectly cooked. The sashimi with sesame dressing and wasabi was a delight. The only downside for the food was smaller portions of the okonomiyaki, but it still tasted great. No dedicated parking, but could park at Taniya building.

Cozy, home-style Japanese restaurant with delicious okonomiyaki and tasty yakitori dishes (chicken skin is recommeded). Free 3-hour parking is available with a stamp when you park at Wall Street Tower

Quite pricey imo! Muscat Beer was delicious, very unique. Service was very good, staff were still very attentive even at 1030pm. Overall sashimi was quite fresh but nothing too special
